Winter Party
Our winter party will be on Friday, December 21st from 1:30-2:30. We will make a craft, play a game, and eat a yummy snack! It will be a fun way to kick off our winter break. Thank you in advance to the parents who volunteered to help with the party!
IPods In Kindergarten
The students in our classroom have enjoyed learning how to use our iPods. We have learned games to help us with our letters/sounds and reading words. Students are also able to listen to books. We are slowly learning more and more apps on the iPods. Ask your child about the iPods and which app they like the best so far. (click on the picture to view photos of our time with iPods today)

Welcome New Kindergarteners!
I would like to extend a welcome to my new kindergarten students and their families. I cannot wait to meet you! You should have recieved a letter in the mail informing you of our open house time and your assigned fall interview time. Please bring your child with you to the interview. Please feel free to bring your child's supplies at this time as well.
At the open house/fall interviews you will be meeting myself and Ms. Wobschall. Ms. Wobschall will be filling in for me until November 5th. I had a beautiful baby boy this summer and I will be spending some time at home with him this fall. In addition to meeting Ms. Wobschall and I, you will also get an opportunity to become familiar with our classroom, learn basic procedures, and gain general knowledge of our kindergarten classroom.
Enjoy the last few days of your summer and we will see you soon!

Color Words
We are working very hard at learning to read color words. To help us better remember our color words we will be focusing on a color word a day for two weeks. We will start Monday, March 19th. Please have your child wear colored clothing to match the color focus of each day (i.e. Monday, March 19th everyone should wear red). Your child may also bring in an object that is the same color as the color focus for the day to share with the class. Below is the schedule we will learn our color words.

· Monday-Red
· Tuesday-Orange
· Wednesday-Yellow
· Thursday-Green
· Friday- Black
March 26-30

Dental Health
We were fortunate to have Kim Heilman visit our classroom on Friday, March 9th. Kim works at a dental office and she came to teach us about keeping our teeth healthy. The kids enjoyed learning about going to the dentist. They each got a goodie bag to take home to help them keep their teeth healthy. Ask your child what they learned from Kim's about keeping their teeth healthy.
Halverson Loves to Read
On Friday, March 2nd we kicked off Halverson Loves to Read Month by celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday. The kids enjoyed listening to Mr. Esterby read a Dr. Seuss book and they learned about all of the fun events going on at school this month. We have been challenged as a school to read 5,000 books by the end of the month. Our classroom is working hard to help Halverson reach this goal. If you are reading books at home, please keep track of the names of the books so we can record them at school. Some of the other events this month include having guest readers, extra time with reading buddies, and a celebration walk where we can view student work from other classrooms. On Friday, March 30 we will have an assembly where we will learn if we reached our goal of 5,000 books. If we reached our goal Mr. Esterby will paint his hair rainbow and get pies in the face.

Valentine's Day
Our Valentine's party was a big success. The students enjoyed playing Cupid Bing, creating valentines, eatting delicous cupcakes, and opening their valentine's from their friends. They were very excited to take their Valentine's bags home to show their families. You can check out the pictures from our Valentine's party by clicking on the picture below.

December Holiday Party
Reindeer Fun with Reading Buddies
I appologize for getting these pictures posted. We have been busy learning and I haven't been able to get things posted as I had hoped. Back in December, the kindergarten students met with their reading buddies and put together some reindeer food. They also made a reindeer treat to eat for snack. They had a blast working together! Click on the picture below to go to the Reindeer Fun photo album.
