Color Words

We are working very hard at learning to read color words.  To help us better remember our color words we will be focusing on a color word a day for two weeks.  We will start Monday, March 19th.  Please have your child wear colored clothing to match the color focus of each day (i.e. Monday, March 19th everyone should wear red).  Your child may also bring in an object that is the same color as the color focus for the day to share with the class. Below is the schedule we will learn our color words.

March 19th-March 23th
·       Monday-Red
·       Tuesday-Orange
·       Wednesday-Yellow
·       Thursday-Green
·       Friday- Black

March 26-30
·       Monday-Blue
·       Tuesday-Brown
·       Wednesday-White
·       Thursday-Pink
·       Friday-Purple

Dental Health

We were fortunate to have Kim Heilman visit our classroom on Friday, March 9th.  Kim works at a dental office and she came to teach us about keeping our teeth healthy.  The kids enjoyed learning about going to the dentist.  They each got a goodie bag to take home to help them keep their teeth healthy.  Ask your child what they learned from Kim's about keeping their teeth healthy.

Halverson Loves to Read

On Friday, March 2nd we kicked off Halverson Loves to Read Month by celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday.  The kids enjoyed listening to Mr. Esterby read a Dr. Seuss book and they learned about all of the fun events going on at school this month.  We have been challenged as a school to read 5,000 books by the end of the month.  Our classroom is working hard to help Halverson reach this goal.  If you are reading books at home, please keep track of the names of the books so we can record them at school.  Some of the other events this month include having guest readers, extra time with reading buddies, and a celebration walk where we can view student work from other classrooms.  On Friday, March 30 we will have an assembly where we will learn if we reached our goal of 5,000 books.  If we reached our goal Mr. Esterby will paint his hair rainbow and get pies in the face.
