We had a wonderful time celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday along with the finale of our I Love to Read month here at school. The kids snuggled up in their blankets and read books throughout the day. We also had some guest readers stop by our classroom. In the afternoon, we watched the Dr. Seuss movie Horton Hear's a Who. The day ended with an assembly in the gym to see if we met our school goal of reading 2,000 books in one month. It turns out we not only met our goal, but exceeded it by reading approximately 2,800 books! Our class contributing approximately 120 books. Because we met our reading goal we got to watch Mr. Sofio kiss a pig! Because we surpassed our reading goal, a teacher was also selected to kiss the pig. Mrs. Gjersvik, a second grade teacher here at Halverson was the lucky winner! We had a wonderful day celebrating Dr. Seuss and our love for reading!
