Iktomi

Today our class attended the play Iktomi at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.  Iktomi means spider. Iktomi is sometimes called Spider or Spider-Man in English, but he is usually depicted as a human man in Native American legends and stories. Iktomi is known as a trickster because he plays tricks on people. He also has some magical powers.  The students seemed to really enjoy the play.  It was a fun way to learn about the Dakota indians.  Check back soon for pictures from the play!
